If you want to unlock iPhone and have not yet done so, it’s probably for a number of reasons. Perhaps you want to use your iPhone on another carrier. Or maybe you’ve purchased an iPhone and need to upgrade to a better model. Whatever the reason, now it is easy to do!
There are two methods available for unlocking iPhones. There is the “jailbreak” method, which voids the warranty on your device and makes it compatible with any carrier. This process is risky and should only be done by an expert. It voids your phone’s warranty and gives your only options – either continue with your existing carrier, or buy a new iPhone. This option will work if your iPhone works on a T Mobile, AT&T or Verizon network, but will not work if you use another mobile carrier.
The second way to perform an iPhone unlocking is to use a procedure known as “rooting.” With this method, you first connect your iPhone to your computer, then download the appropriate software from the Apple website. From there, you enter your computer’s IP address (this can be located on the unit’s manual) and then follow the onscreen instructions.
Both of these methods work, but they take slightly more time. With the unlocking software, it can usually be done in just a few minutes, whereas in the case of a “rooting” session, you might be required to spend a bit more time configuring your computer to allow the procedure. Then again, both methods are extremely effective. You can immediately start using your iPhone when you unlock it, rather than having to wait several days for your new phone to become available with your carrier.
However, some carriers may require that you first send them the activation code for activation. In this case, you would have to visit their store or call their customer support. Then, they will manually unlock your phone for you. For this, however, you must know that you cannot do this for an AT&T iPhone or any other T-Mobile iPhone that is not sold by them.
When it comes down to it, there really is no need to be concerned about whether or not your iPhone can be unlocked. It is true that most cell phones can be unlocked with the correct t-mobile or AT&T IMEI number, but doing so will ultimately cost you money. You can save quite a bit of money by buying another carrier and starting over with that instead.
